Go Girl, Go for IT is a free IT career showcase that has been running since 2001.

Every 2 years, the Victorian ICT for Women network runs the event for all Victorian school girls in years 5 to 12 to hear about the incredible range of vocational avenues available in IT.

The next event takes place on Thursday 16 August 2018 at Deakin University, Burwood Campus.

It’s free to attend, and travel is subsidised by our generous sponsors.

Aims of the event

A common perception is that ‘IT’ means coding. Go Girl, Go for IT challenges that view and aims to excite and engage female secondary school students by introducing them to this world.

The one-day event focuses on inspiring students with fantastic role model speakers, showcasing technology of the future and challenging any preconceptions of what a career in IT might look like.

It opens up the possibilities of following careers in everything from analysis to user design to development to data science (just to name a few!).

Dozens of hands-on workshops, presentations and discussions provide girls with the right kinds of information to help them discover what a career in IT could mean for them.

Participants will walk away with the ability to make an informed decision on whether they want to pursue a career in IT.
